Seiler Instrument Company- Indianapolis, Indiana, August 3, 2007 Seiler Instrument and the Midwest RTK network have now expanded their Trimble VRS data coverage for 85% of the population and geography of the state of Indiana. To date there are 22 Trimble GPS / GNSS base stations operating throughout the state of Indiana which provide Survey, Engineering, Construction and Mapping professionals’ unequaled speed and accuracy.

Midwest RTK Network subscription service provides surveyors, civil engineers and geospatial/mapping professionals, with immediate access to Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) positioning corrections without the need for a field base station. The result is GNSS positioning that is fast, accurate and simple to perform and users can be up and running in minutes! For live coverage information in Indiana see the link.

“We are very excited to bring this technology to the surveying and GIS community in Indiana” commented Tom Seiler, Vice President of Seiler Instruments. “The Trimble VRS system is now at work allowing State, County, Municipal and Private Users to work in a safer, more productive way.” Starting in 2005, Seiler instruments began deploying GPS Base Stations or CORS (continually operating reference stations). The demand for Seiler’s CORS data has expanded tremendously and linking the stations together with Trimble VRS software in 2006, provided for a very high level of accuracy and quality assurance that was never before available within the State.

Mr. Ryan Swingley, P.L.S. of USI Consultants, Inc. located in Indianapolis Indiana stated, "Midwest RTK Networks have saved USI a substantial amount of field crew time. We no longer have to waste 20 to 30 minutes a day setting up and tearing down one of our own base stations, we just hop out of the truck-turn our rover’s on and are producing accurate coordinates immediately! The data we receive from MWRTK is broadcast on one reference system (WGS84), allowing local calibrations to be exported from Trimble Geomatics Office to any coordinate projection, such as State Plane or UTM. This allows us to use data from multiple projects, which has assisted in the planning and bidding of future projects and saved our company time and money."
