Calendar Listing-GITA's Annual Conference 30 Expanded New Program Sets Stage for a Big Year
The conference will include 15 brand new seminars, 99 technical paper presentations, and much more programming dedicated to geographic information systems (GIS) and other geospatial technologies as they relate to government agencies, telecommunication organizations, pipeline companies and electric, water, and gas utilities.
New in 2007, the conference committee has added three refreshing power panels, two of which will take place at the end of the conference. In two separate panels, traditional industry leaders and nontraditional Web-related pioneers will deliberate on where geospatial technology is headed. In an association panel, key industry associations will discuss the current state of the industry along with trends of today and the future. Members of the geospatial community are invited to submit their ideas for subtopics in these areas by e-mailing suggestions to Jesse Glasgow, panel coordinator, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Now in their second year, the Geospatial Career Expo and International Poster Session will take place during the conference. The career expo is free for job-seekers, and companies that would like to participate can sign up by going to http://www.gita.org/events/annual/30/recruiters.html. The poster session will allow geospatial professionals to exhibit their projects, and all conference attendees can vote for a "Best in Show" winner.
"We are very excited to be holding GITA's 30th Annual Conference in San Antonio. In keeping with the Mission Possible theme, we are looking to the future of the use of geospatial technology for all types of problem solving-whatever the mission," said Mary Ann Stewart, conference chair. "The historic nature of San Antonio reminds us of the original missions located there and of the history of establishing outposts in new frontiers. We are preserving the history and quality of GITA over 30 years while moving forward with new knowledge and participation from new industry sectors-2007 will be a great year to participate in the geospatial technology industry."
Exhibitors and presenters will cover topics like Internet and Web services, mobile and wireless technologies, network operations management, e-business, critical infrastructure protection, homeland security, interoperability, and much more.
Additionally, attendees can browse a 100,000-square-foot product and services exhibition show floor, which will showcase the latest offerings in geospatial solutions. The sessions, exhibit floor and seminars, along with the many networking opportunities, will make GITA's Annual Conference 30 one of the premier geospatial events of 2007.
