Hayes Instrument Co. released the new BanTam X Series Hayes Communication System. The communication system consists of two small, lightweight Bluetooth radios that compete with the heavier UHF radio used with robotic total stations. The BanTam offers data collection at the prism pole for regular total stations and allows surveyors to collect data at the rod, hundreds of feet from the total station. The BanTam can transfer data up to 1,200 feet with zero interference and has different power options, such as an internal charging battery or off-the-shelf batteries for added flexibility.
