(Santa Barbara, Calif.)- Penfield & Smith, a local full-service engineering, surveying & planning firm received notification in April that they have made it onto McGraw Hill’s ENR Top Design Firms in the U.S.A., coming in at number 465. The firm of just over 150 has provided professional services to the Central and South Coast of California since 1946 and boasts a celebrity-peppered list of clients including Ty Warner, Bob Hope and Kevin Costner, as well as recently completed impressive projects such as a complete boundary survey with monument setting on the 14,000 acre Bitter Creek National Wildlife Refuge, ALTA on the historic Montecito Country Club, and Boundary Surveys for a number of other notable projects including Pillar Point Airforce Station.

Penfield & Smith’s current president, Mr. Danny Wynn credited the staff’s hard work for this significant achievement. Every year, thousands of firms all over the nation compete for this honor, the construction industry’s version of the Fortune 500 list. The survey department at Penfield & Smith has undergone a major transformation in the last few years under the management of PLS Justin Height, PLS Kenneth “Jim” Wilson and PLS James Fallon. The team has recently scored multi-year survey services contracts with both CSRC and CalTrans and is looking forward to getting more involved in these types of projects.
