Photo Science was recently awarded a five-year IDC contract by the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to provide aerial photography and photogrammetric mapping services in support of the nationwide Shoreline Mapping Program.

Through this contract, Photo Science will assist NOAA in delineating approximately 95,000 miles of shoreline and provide an official and accurate delineation of the National Shoreline. This will be accomplished via stereo photogrammetry using tide-coordinated aerial photography controlled by kinematic GPS techniques. This process produces a seamless, digital database of the national shoreline and a database of aerial photography which will help establish the legal authority when determining the official shoreline for the United States.

Additionally, NOAA may also request aerial photography, field data collection, and photogrammetric analysis services to identify airport features and obstructions and aids to aerial navigation as part of the Aeronautical Survey Program. The aeronautical data will assist the Federal Aviation Administration to establish airport approach and departure procedures, determine takeoff weights, update aeronautical publications, and assist with airport planning and construction studies.
