McKim & Creed earned a spot on the list for its outstanding growth performance. The list is based on gross revenue for fiscal years 2002 and 2005 and includes firms that have outperformed the economy and competitors to become leaders in their chosen fields.
When asked about the recent growth and rapid expansion of the company, President Michael Creed said, "When we finally realized and accepted the fact that we are in the people business we began growing at three times the industry average. Our vision contains the most important words we have ever written: people helping people define and achieve their goals and dreams. This applies to our people internally and to our clients externally. As trite as it may sound, my job is to help all our people become as self-actualized as they possibly can."
Creed, along with Herbert P. McKim, Jr., PE, established McKim & Creed in 1978. Since then, the firm has repositioned itself from a single office generalist to an infrastructure specialist with nearly 500 employees in offices in North Carolina, Florida and Virginia. Engineering News-Record has named McKim & Creed one of the top 500 design firms and top 200 environmental firms in the U.S.; Southeast Construction ranks the company among its top engineering and architecture firms; and Public Works lists McKim & Creed among its top 100 AEC firms in the country.
Pete Kienle, CPSM, FSMPS, McKim & Creed's chief marketing officer, will accept the award in October at the Hot Firm 2006 awards banquet in San Francisco.
