Study Shows Tripod Data Systems Data Collection Hardware and Software Continue to Be Top Choice of Surveyors

Surveying decision-makers purchase TDS data collection hardware and software more than any other manufacturer

CORVALLIS, Ore. - June 6, 2006 - Tripod Data Systems (TDS) today announced that a 2005 study conducted by BNP Media confirms that more professional surveyors use TDS hardware and software products for data collection than those of any other manufacturer.

In addition, more survey respondents chose TDS as the brand of data collector hardware and software they were likely to consider for their next purchase, and TDS received more "excellent" responses than other manufacturers in five major rating categories. This year's study echoes the results of previous BNP studies in which surveyors also chose TDS products over other manufacturers.

"Even in an increasingly competitive surveying market, TDS products, prices and support continue to be recognized for excellence by the people who matter most: professionals in the field," said Bill Martin, president of TDS. "We value their feedback above all else, and we will continue working to provide the best performance, technical support, reliability and value in the surveying industry."

The October 2005 questionnaire, sent to 3,000 Point of Beginning subscribers, asked respondents to name the manufacturers of their primary data collection hardware and software. It then asked respondents to rate surveying hardware and software products and manufacturers in several different categories. Nearly 90 percent of respondents were business owners/presidents, chief surveyors or vice presidents.

TDS was the most popular purchase choice for data collection software, with more respondents choosing TDS software (Survey Pro) than any other data collection software. TDS was also the top purchase choice for data collection hardware.

In individual rating categories, TDS received more "excellent" responses than any other manufacturer for data collection software technology leadership, price fairness, product support and product quality rating, and data collection hardware product support.
