In combination with Sokkia's RAB-code staff, height difference and distance can be measured simply with the touch of a key in less than 3 seconds, with the result stored in the internal memory. The measuring distance is from 1.6 to 100 m (5.3 to 320 ft). The standard deviation for 1 km double-run leveling is 1.5 mm. The same reliable compensator used for the top-of-the-line SDL30 is incorporated in the SDL50 to provide a compensation range as wide as ±15'. With the "Height Difference Measurement" function, the height of ceilings, bridges and other objects can be measured with ease. There is no need to change the measuring mode when the staff is held upside-down because the SDL50 automatically identifies the attitude of the staff. The large memory holds up to 2,000 points of data. Using the SDL TOOL software, the data can be imported in CSV format to be further processed in the user's own program. The SDL50 incorporates the same setting-out program as the SDL30; the most convenient setting-out method can be chosen from three possible options.
