MorePreviously contracted to develop high accuracy GIS base map data in 1999, the County welcomes Sanborn's return to provide color digital orthophotography, impervious surface delineation, topographic and planimetric GIS mapping services. Using Lidar Sanborn will provide airborne and ground GPS control to generate comprehensive digital terrain models updating over 430 square miles. Mapping beyond the county's boundaries, Sanborn will also capture color aerial photography and provide first generation color digital orthophotography products that will include three-dimensional renderings.
With the information Sanborn provides, Gwinnett County will have a complete, up-to-date planimetric data compilation for their enterprise GIS. The updated GIS data will be used in all major departments in the county to aid daily operations, storm water run off analysis, support emergency response, community planning, and assessment.
