MoreNorcross, GA - Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has selected ERDAS’ LPS software to meet its growing need for creation of photogrammetric products capable of meeting engineering grade accuracy.
LPS is ERDAS’ signature photogrammetry solution, seamlessly integrating software tools to streamline production-mapping workflows. INDOT will utilize LPS, including the PRO600 feature extraction module, for feature extraction and performing precise measurements of roads and surface features. INDOT has also purchased Planar’s SD2420W 24" Widescreen Stereo/3D Monitors, which will enhance their stereo viewing experience, increasing INDOT’s capacity for stereo compilation and editing in PRO600. INDOT has jurisdiction over state roads, interstates and US Highways within the state of Indiana. This includes adjacent overpasses and ramps and traffic control devices, as well as construction and maintenance operations. By providing INDOT engineers with photogrammetry and CADD products at design scale, INDOT ensures that the state is equipped for ongoing improvements in road safety and traffic management.

The new monitors have a very clear resolution which will aid in improving our mapping accuracies and maintain the quality of modeling that we require,” said Bill Schmidt, Manager of Aerial Engineering, Division of Production Management, INDOT. “This combined solution provides INDOT with leading technology for mapping of our own projects. This will aid in cost effectiveness of our mapping department and provide an alternative solution to developing the ground model for design.”
