As a land surveyor, Gary Anderson relishes the fact that he is often working at the site of a project before any other consultant or development stakeholder.
“On many construction projects the surveyors are the first to step foot on the ground and last to leave,” said Anderson.
Anderson, a surveyor for Westlake Consultants since 1996, was recently named Oregon Surveyor of the Year by the Professional Land Surveyors of Oregon. Anderson received the honor for his more than 30 years of survey experience and for his efforts to encourage young people to explore land surveying as a career.
Anderson has served as PLSO’s statewide education and outreach chairman, organizing and conducting outreach efforts at middle schools, high schools and Boy Scout programs in northwest Oregon.
