More(Norcross, Ga.) Leica Geosystems has announced the winner of the System 1200 SmartStation Contest. The grand prize, a System 1200 SmartStation, was awarded to Douglas Crane of North County Surveying, Inc. in Siren, Wis.
"We have used Leica GPS equipment in our business since 1993," Crane said. "We purchased a TCRA1105 Leica Robotic Total Station in 1999 after field trials comparing all the robots available at that time. I am very excited to have won the Leica SmartStation in this contest and can hardly wait to get it working for our land surveying company. The integration of an RTK GPS system with a robotic total station will be a major productivity boost for our business."
The SmartStation contest took place across the United States and Canada. Eligibility for the drawing required that qualified individuals attend a sales demonstration of the SmartStation capabilities by an authorized Leica Geosystems distributor or salesperson between October 1, 2005 and February 28, 2006.
"The goal of the contest was to build awareness of the innovative productivity features of the System 1200 SmartStation within the North American surveying market," said Valerie Richardson, vice president of marketing and customer support, Leica Geosystems Inc., Americas region. "As the first and only total station with fully integrated GPS, the SmartStation offers surveyors enhanced productivity and functionality in a single, compact package. With common software, database, storage medium and user interface all-in-one, the SmartStation can reduce setup and orientation time by as much as 80 percent."
