Carlson Software released Carlson Civil 2007, which includes more than 50 new commands and 150 improved commands across the program spectrum comprised of survey, site and road design, hydrology and GIS. Carlson Civil 2007 works with AutoCAD 2007 and previous releases. New feature highlights include dynamic road networks with integrated intersection and cul-de-sac design, dynamic storm sewer networks with DTM-based automatic drainage areas, mass haul analysis to report optimized earthwork movement by distance ranges, automatic point label overlap avoidance, deed reader to extract line/curve data from deed text and coordinate file history. The new Point Clouds module registers, views, decimates and filters laser scan data, and generates models as well as layerized linework and points. Improvements to existing commands include changes to Field-to-Finish for point groups by code, 3D Face coding for structures, and an inspector to review coding results in the drawing, edit code descriptions and update. All customers on the Carlson Maintenance Plan automatically receive their upgrade to Carlson Civil 2007. (Carlson Software, Maysville, Ky.)
