Topcon Laser Systems Inc., Pleasanton, Calif., and Sauer-Danfoss Inc., Ames, Iowa, created a joint venture company called TSD Integrated Controls. TSD’s focus is developing machine-integrated architecture for the addition of positioning control systems to off-highway equipment that will be marketed to equipment manufacturers.

Applanix Corporation, Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada, announced that Keith Vickery has assumed the role of vice president, Marine Products. Vickery is responsible for exploring and developing business opportunities in the marine market.

NovAtel Inc., Calgary, Alberta, Canada, appointed Dave Vaughn as president and CEO. Vaughn’s experience includes being senior vice president and COO at Magellan Corporation, and several senior management positions at Trimble Navigation Limited.

The Connecticut Association of Land Surveyors Inc. (CALS), Wethersfield, Conn., selected Patrick Toscano as Surveyor of the Year for 2000. Toscano is a long time member of CALS and an active member on the board of directors.

Hammon, Jensen, Wallen & Associates Inc., Oakland, Calif., changed its name to HJW GeoSpatial Inc. HJW GeoSpatial’s services include aerial photography, digital orthophotography, planimetric and topographic mapping, remote sensing and GIS.

Paul B. Lapham, PS, was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Michigan Society of Professional Surveyors (MSPS). He received this award at the Society’s 60th annual meeting in Lansing, Mich.
