Topcon Positioning Systems Inc., announced that Ray O’Connor has been promoted to the position of president. O’Connor succeeds George Yoshino, who has been promoted to the position of managing director of Topcon Corporation.

Steve Hirano, executive vice-president of Topcon Positioning Systems (TPS) has been promoted to the position of senior manager of strategic business development of Topcon Corporation. Scott Hokari, former Topcon senior manager for the USA division, has been named an executive vice president of TPS, and Tony Hirayama has been named its vice president of strategic business planning. Hirayama is also manager of international sales and marketing for TPS. Topcon America Corporation (TAC) has named David Mudrick, CFO for TPS, as its new executive vice president, and Randy Samuels, general counsel for TAC, as a new vice president. TAC operates both TPS and Topcon Medical Systems.

After joining Topcon in 1993, O’Connor was instrumental in the formation of Topcon Laser Systems, a new Topcon subsidiary responsible for laser instrument sales in the Americas and the development of machine control products for worldwide distribution.

O’Connor and Mudrick oversaw the acquisition of Javad Positioning Systems in July 2000 bringing advanced GPS technology to Topcon, and with the help of Samuels, consolidated Topcon’s multiple positioning technologies under unified management with the formation of TPS in July 2001.
