Leica Geosystems, Norcross, Ga., signed agreements to acquire 100 percent of the shares of ERDAS Inc., Atlanta, Ga., and 50 percent of the shares of LH Systems, San Diego, Calif. ERDAS and LH Systems will form Leica’s new GIS and Mapping Division. Leica plans on increasing their GIS and Remote Sensing market through this new division.
Leica Geosystems, Norcross, Ga., signed agreements to acquire 100 percent of the shares of ERDAS Inc., Atlanta, Ga., and 50 percent of the shares of LH Systems, San Diego, Calif. ERDAS and LH Systems will form Leica’s new GIS and Mapping Division. Leica plans on increasing their GIS and Remote Sensing market through this new division.
According to Hans Hess, Leica Geosystems CEO, “Individually, these two companies bring significant benefits to our company. The fusion of these two companies brings together the broadest array of image-based data acquisition and visualization tools in the industry.”
ERDAS specializes in remote sensing software and LH Systems specializes in aerial photography, remote sensing and photogrammetry.
Leica Geosystems will acquire ERDAS Inc. for approximately $30 million in cash plus shares in the company. LH Systems will be acquired for $15 million in cash.
