Autodesk Inc., San Rafael, Calif., and IZOIC Inc. announced a joint solution to help locate underground cables and pipes before excavation of a construction site. The solution includes Autodesk Map, Autodesk MapGuide and Autodesk OnSite software for mapping and mobile location services combined with IZOIC’s eBuild Protect Applications for asset protection management. It creates an Internet based system for managing the excavation location process.

The solution allows work crews to submit location requests online, eliminate unnecessary submissions, and reduce expensive project stoppages due to accidents and inaccurate information. In addition, the location of cables and pipes ensure that maps are accurate for future jobs.
