The United Nations Uses ESRI’s Network
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) launched its Environment Network website, www.unep.net, using ESRI’s (Redlands, Calif.) geography network, www.geographynetwork.com, and ArcIMS.
Geography network explorer technology is a spatial search engine for locating data on the Environment Network website. Besides data from ESRI’s network, UNEP.net uses data from the European Environment Agency, World Conservation Union, U.S. Geological Survey and World Wildlife Fund.
The environment network provides thematic maps, greenhouse gas emissions, nuclear power sites, global population density, global land cover classification, basic geography, annual average temperature, precipitation and much more.
