SFC and COPS to Hold Winter Meeting

Meeting to offer business resources for small firms and surveyors.

The Small Firm Council (SFC) and the Council of Professional Surveyors (COPS) will hold a winter meeting on Jan. 11 and 12, 2002 in Newport Beach, Calif., to help firms of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) to learn, grow and network with their peers.

Attendees of the meeting will earn nine (9) Professional Development Hours (PDHs); participate in the popular CEO membership roundtable to share ideas on priority issues concerning profitability, business practices, liability, human resources, marketing and other challenges impacting small firms; network with other SFC and COPS members; and help to shape SFC and COPS issues by participating in the SFC and COPS general membership meeting.

Ron Koons, president of RoSaKo Enterprises, a recognized leader in workplace and worksite safety, will present "Limiting Liability and Exposure Through Health and Safety," an educational session to help improve employee safety practices while providing you information on limiting your firm's liability. During the session, Koons will discuss:
OSHA regulations and inspections
Participating in OSHA inspections
Common OSHA citations in the engineerig and surveying industry
Limiting liability when working in traffic and roadway areas
Woods, fields and water safety
Office safety programs
OSHA confined space permits and confined space safety.

For an extra $50, all non-SFC and COPS members may attend the SFC/COPS Winter Metting and join either SFC or COPS for six months.
