GITA makes www.GISdevelopment.net Worldwide Global Resource 09.23.2002

The portal now features proceedings from GITA conferences from 1997 to 2001, with proceedings from previous years being compiled.

On the occasion of GSDI 6, Bob Samborski, Executive Director of Geospatial Information Technology Association (GITA) (www.gita.org) and Ravi Gupta, Editor of GIS@development magazine launched the GITA proceedings on the www.GISdevelopment.net, The Largest GIS Portal in the World. The www.GISdevelopment.net portal now features proceedings from GITA conferences from 1997 to 2001, with proceedings from previous years being compiled. This joint initiative of two premier geographic information organisations from the two opposite corners of the world has paved way for building up a synergy between the North American the GIS community from reset of the world. The proceedings are available at: www.GISdevelopment.net/proceedings/gita/index.htm

GITA and www.GISdevelopment.net are discussing the options for advancing the mutual relationship under the provisions of the MoU signed in February 2002. The two organisations have agreed to make the www.GISdevelopment.net the global resource for GITA members worldwide. In the near future, GITA corporate members will have their profiles added in the Company Directory section of www.GISdevelopment.net for increased international exposure.

As a part of long-term strategy to increase it's reach to the North American GIS community, www.GISdevelopment.net will have a major presence at the March 2003 GITA Annual conference in San Antonio, Texas. In turn GITA will work with www.GISdevelopment.net to increase its presence in the Asian community through various conferences e.g. Map India (www.mapindia.org) and Map Asia (www.mapasia.org)
