The U.S. Department of Transportation's Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) released the National Transportation Atlas Databases 2001 (NTAD 2001), a set of nationwide geographic databases that focus on transportation facilities.
The NTAD 2001 includes geographical information for transportation modal networks and intermodal terminals. The database is being distributed by BTS in Shapefile format. This format can be easily used in most GIS software packages.
The databases will be used by the national, regional, state and local levels.
