The Virginia Board for Architects, Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, Certified Interior Designers and Landscape Architects (APELSCIDLA) removed regulations to add a “grandfathering” clause for photogrammetrists to the land surveyors’ license, as highlighted in POB’s November issue. The APELSCIDLA originally adopted regulations on Sept. 12, 2001, to add the clause into the land surveyors’ license, subject to review by legal examination and review by government agencies. Mark Courtney, the administrator of the board, said the one-year clause was removed from the land surveyors license requirements based on advice from legal council on Nov. 19, 2001. The clause would have allowed practicing photogrammetrists to apply for licensure as land surveyor photogrammetrists based upon a series of requirements.
