Sokkia Corporation, a leading manufacturer and distributor of complete measurement solutions for the worldwide surveying industry, announced today that they will begin delivering Carlson Survey XML, the market leading stand-alone desktop PC application for the surveying industry, as an upgrade to the current MapVista software product. The MapVista desktop software is being retired in favor of the newer Carlson Survey XML product.

“As part of an effort to streamline delivery to the customer, and allow each manufacturer to focus on their respective core competencies, Sokkia has decided to move forward with offering Carlson Survey XML to its dealer channel as the primary solution for field-to-finish desktop data management. This move signals a continued strengthening of the development relationship with our industry partner, Carlson Software” said John L. Florio, Product Planning Manager at Sokkia Corporation. “Carlson Software is the most respected name in the surveying industry for stand-alone and add-on desktop applications and Sokkia is proud to deliver this quality product from a respected leader. We will continue to move forward with more concentrated effort on co-developed data collection systems, and plan for more products in the future” stated Mr. Florio.

Sokkia Corporation will be offering upgrades to all existing MapVista users at an introductory rate, and will market and distribute the Carlson Survey XML product to its dealer channel. The MapVista trademark will continue to be retained for Sokkia’s growing Law Enforcement Applications Division.
