John D. McLaughlin, a professor of geomatics and engineering at the University of New Brunswick, has been named president of UNB. McLaughlin is the first and only surveying engineer to become president of UNB. He began teaching at UNB in the surveying engineering department in 1972, served as chair of the department from 1985 to 1991 and as vice president, research and international cooperation, from 1997 until moving to vice president, academic, in 2000.

InfoTech Enterprises Inc. , Alexandria, Va., changed its name to Avineon Inc. The new brand identity was developed to reinforce and promote the innovative approaches that Avineon is taking to prepare for future growth.



Paiva
Pacific Crest Corporation welcomed Joseph Paiva, Ph.D. to its Board of Directors. Paiva, formerly vice president of land survey at Trimble Navigation, is a consultant to the Geomatics Industry Association of America (GIAA), managing director for Spatial Data Research Inc., and writes columns including POB’s GIAA Mailbag and Professional Topography.

Roy F. Weston Inc. , West Chester, Pa., changed its name to Weston Solutions Inc.

ACSM hired Laurence Socci as its Government Affairs Consultant. Socci is a partner with The C.L.A. Group, LLC. His goals for the rest of the year for ACSM are to make ACSM more visible on Capitol Hill; to help increase ACSM membership; and to expand and grow the ACSM PAC.

Frank Larsson and Johan Larsson, president and vice president of Spectra 3D Company, respectively, acquired the Trimble/Spectra Precision direct sales store serving the San Francisco Bay Area. The new company is Spectra 3D Construction and Surveying Instruments Inc. and remains at the same location.
