The launch window for the SPOT 5 Earth observation satellite opens May 3 at 9:31 PM Eastern Standard Time (May 4 at 1:31 GMT). SPOT 5 provides the ability to capture digital imagery of up to 5600 square miles of Earth at resolutions of 2.5m, 5m and 10m; map highly accurate global elevations for 3D visualization; and provide daily coverage of the entire Earth at 1km resolution.
