Laser-Scan's Design Manager David Allen will be delivering a presentation entitled "Extra intelligence for your spatial data - maximizing existing investments". He will explore the benefits of topology in mainstream IT solutions, namely RDBMS such as the Oracle9i database.

The presentation fits neatly into the programme, which is tailored to the theme of the conference: "A Spirit of Collaboration". Mr Allen's presentation explores the use of spatial data in a mainstream environment and emphasises the need for interoperability to exploit the true value of spatial data.

David Allen was instrumental in the development of Laser-Scan's Radius Topology product. The first in a new suite of products, Radius Topology brings advanced intelligence to spatial data within the Oracle environment. It offers significant time and cost savings through increased query performance and guaranteed data quality.

Radius Topology works behind the scenes; the dynamic topology management layer from Laser-Scan is integrated with Oracle9i, creating a server-side topological solution for handling the structure of spatial information. Existing Oracle software and third party applications can continue unchanged and no specialist knowledge is necessary.
