MoreMartin Morgan, chairman of Sanborn, a geographic information system (GIS) and photogrammetry industry leader, today announced the appointment of John Copple as chief executive officer for the company, effective immediately. He also announced that the company, formerly based in Pelham, New York, relocated its headquarters to Colorado Springs this month. Mr. Copple will be based in the Colorado office.
Mr. Copple is a pioneer in the satellite imagery industry. In 1995, he joined Space Imaging, a satellite imagery company then in its infancy. When he left his position as chairman and chief executive officer earlier this year, the Denver-based company was the premier provider of satellite imagery worldwide. Over the last few months Mr. Copple has served as a consultant to the Rand Corporation supporting the National Imagery and Mapping Agency.
Prior to joining Space Imaging, Mr. Copple had a distinguished career in a variety of business and financial roles at Dallas, Texas-based E-Systems, a technology systems company which was acquired by Raytheon. Prior to joining E-Systems, Mr. Copple worked for Austin, Texas-based Tracor, an aerospace company now part of BAE Systems.
