MoreESRI announced that the Production Line Tool Set (PLTS) Mapping Agency Solution is now shipping. PLTS Mapping Agency Solution is designed to efficiently produce topographic basemap products. The Mapping Agency Solution enhances PLTS with a new geodatabase model and knowledge base for topographic mapping. This solution can be used to create and maintain data for large, intermediate, and small scale topographic products. PLTS Mapping Agency Solution was developed by ESRI's Production Line Tool Set Group within a topographic production environment. PLTS Mapping Agency Solution is one of many solutions in the PLTS collection of software applications built on top of ArcGIS for high- volume database production, maintenance, quality control, and high- quality cartographic output. Included in PLTS Mapping Agency Solution are four map series. Three of the map series have been designed to meet the specifications of the standard United States Geological Survey (USGS) topographic map products at scales of 1:24,000, 1:63,360, and 1:100,000. The fourth map series is designed to meet the specifications of a 1:250,000 scale Joint Operations Graphic-Air (JOG-A) from the National Imagery and Mapping Agency (NIMA). Topographic symbology for all of these products has also been included.
The topographic geodatabase model enables any mapping agency to produce large, intermediate, and small scale topographic products. The knowledge base extends the topographic geodatabase and enforces data integrity with the use of Valid Value Tables (VVTs) and Condition Tables (CNTs) specific to topographic mapping. With PLTS Mapping Agency Solution users can Generate digital and hard copy topographic products Automate map sheet management Streamline topographic production flow Benefit from database driven validation and symbolization Ensure data quality with built-in quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) tools.
PLTS Mapping Agency Solution includes GIS Data ReViewer and Map Production System (MPS), which are quality control and map generation components. GIS Data ReViewer enables users to maintain data quality with interactive and batch data validation reports. MPS facilitates the production of cartographic products with map series design and layout tools, customizable map surround elements, symbology style sheets, and cartographic editing tools. PLTS Mapping Agency Solution also includes Job Tracking for ArcGIS (JTX), a workflow management application that simplifies many aspects of job management and streamlines the workflow process.
