The survey asked readers about "off the shelf" GIS component software tools.

Blue Marble Geographics announced that they were ranked number 1 by a readers survey conducted by Directions Magazine for "off the shelf" GIS component software tools. This survey was sponsored solely at the discretion of Directions Magazine. Blue Marble Geographics played no role in the development, design, or deployment of the survey.

Blue Marble has been writing GIS software tools and solutions for over 10 years. Their technology is embedded in hundreds of GIS applications currently used by military, oil exploration, civil engineering, surveying, technology and corporate GIS systems.

Directions Magazine is a worldwide resource for GIS news, technology, and events. The magazine has been continuously publishing since 1998 and is the fastest growing GIS news resource in the industry.

The Directions Magazine survey was conducted with the express purpose of taking the pulse of the GIS industry by interviewing approximately 500 professionals. Participants in the survey comprised a broad cross-section of GIS professionals including State, Local, or Federal employees at 28%, GIS consultants or service providers came in at 15% followed by Natural Resources/Forestry, Software, Hardware or Data vendors, Transportation, and Utilities Industries as well as smaller representation in many other industries.

"The results of this survey are a great indication of our continual push to provide first rate customer service and support," said Blue Marble Geographics Director of Business Development Patrick Cunningham. "We are thankful to our customers for this recognition and will continue to strive to earn their loyalty with every sale."
