Development consulting firm Atwell-Hicks has been awarded the 2004 National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) Private Practice Development Award. Each year, this award is presented to the nominated engineering firm that has made outstanding contributions to the advancement and improvement of the engineering profession through its employment policies and practices.

The firm was recognized for their extensive internal training program, Atwell-Hicks University, which reinforces ongoing education on all employee levels, and their specific practices supporting engineers, and their career advancements. The firm also ranks 19th on the CE News "Best Civil Engineering Firms to Work For 2003" list and is number 27 on the Zweig-White Associates "Hottest A/E/P Firms in America" list - both considering similar statistics regarding employee growth and development on a national level.

Vice President Richard G. Timmons, PE, PS, accepted the award on behalf of the firm at the NSPE annual convention in Honolulu, Hawaii, on Friday, July 9.
