Obituary of Bill McComber; WK Dickson & Co. Inc. announce Jeff Armstrong as director of surveying; and more.

McComber
Bill McComber, PLS, of Lakewood, Colo., passed away on May 10, 2004. His wife, Bonna Kay, and his children Robert, Brandon and BreAnne survive him. Past president of the Professional Land Surveyors of Colorado (PLSC), McComber had a long and distinguished career as a land surveyor. He taught the PLSC refresher course for many years, helping surveyors prepare to take their state board licensing tests, and authored many surveying related articles.

WK Dickson & Co. Inc., Raleigh, N.C., announced that Jeff Armstrong, PLS, has been named director of surveying. Armstrong is registered as a land surveyor in North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida, and is an ASPRS-certified photogrammetrist. Armstrong has assumed responsibility for all land surveying operations.

Sanborn, Colorado Springs, Colo., appointed David Lewis as director of sales for Colorado Springs. In this newly created position, Lewis' primary role is to assist in the continuing development and pursuit strategies for securing state level programs.

SiteComp Inc., Minneapolis, Minn., appointed Kenneth S. Shain as vice president of distribution and licensing and Terry Delaney as vice president of marketing. Shain is responsible for establishing a national dealer network to expand the distribution of SiteComp's surveying, civil engineering, mapping and land development software. Delaney, a 20-year marketing and sales veteran, markets SiteComp's surveying, civil engineering, mapping and land development software.

Janet Jackson, Geographic Information System (GIS) manager with the engineering and surveying firm of McKim & Creed, Cary, N.C., has earned the certification of Geographic Information System Professional (GISP) from the Geographic Information Certification Institute, which was developed under the guidance of the Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA).
