Tina Cary To Present at GIS in the Rockies 09.10.2002

Her topic will be "Mapping the Future: George Washington's or George Orwell's?"

The Board of Directors of the GIS in the Rockies 2002 conference announces that Tina Cary, PhD, President of Cary and Associates, will present the luncheon address Tuesday, October 8th at the 15th Annual GIS in the Rockies Conference. Her topic is the future of the mapping sciences, including geographic information systems (GIS).

Prior to founding Cary and Associates, a marketing consulting firm in Longmont, Colorado, Cary was with EOSAT and Space Imaging for ten years. She is a Fellow of the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing and has served the Society as president. She is now serving the geospatial industry as a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of Geospatial Solutions.

Her international experience includes presentations in a dozen countries on four continents, and a year and a half of field work in Kenya. Her academic credentials include graduate degrees in Geography from Columbia University and selection as a Fulbright-Hays Fellow.

Tuesday, October 8, 2002, the 15th Annual GIS in the Rockies opens with a full day of workshops. On Wednesday, USGS Geographic Information Officer Karen Siderelis will present the keynote address, and officiate at a ribbon-cutting ceremony to open the exhibition. Concurrent technical sessions and the exhibition will continue through Thursday. The conference theme is "GIS from Start to Finish." Program and registration information are on the web site at
