With the launch of GeoConcept Internet Server V2, GeoConcept enhances online mapping capabilities for enterprise networks and the Internet.

GeoConcept, the European leader in GIS, today announces significant new capabilities in a new version of its GeoConcept Internet Server. GeoConcept Internet Server V2 now allows companies to easily extend access to interactive mapping across its intranet or extranet and via its website.

The new version opens up a range of new capabilities. These include easy use of highly effective cartographic illustrations on the website. Examples of this application would be portraying retail store networks or the creation of tourist itineraries. GeoConcept Internet Server V2 also makes it easy to share mapping information enterprise-wide, opening the way to route planning for sales or distribution, or real time display of responses to mail shots or bingo cards.

GeoConcept Internet Server V2 leverages the power of the GeoConcept G5 kernel, using Java, HTML or Java script applets with a standard interface to internet browsers. The GeoConcept Internet Server developer's kit allows further fine tuning and access to the full range of functions and power present in GeoConcept's GIS.

A key feature of GeoConcept Internet Server V2 is the use of a new applet, called Jump. This offers:
1. A user-friendly, personalizable interface with the following features:
- A very similar interface to that of GeoConcept's full GIS in a floating and resizable window
- Different views of the maps can be displayed automatically and the number of views is not limited by the width of the applet window
- Graphics and presentation tools handle text, symbols, pictures, and scale. When calculations are performed to change map parameters, the graphic elements are repositioned as an overlay.
- There is a new man-machine interface to facilitate menu management
- The applet is easily configurable using an XML file to specify scale, width, fonts, and colours
- The user may choose where to place toolbars

2. Intuitive use and exploration of maps
- Information display using mini-files, files or lists
- Coordinates can be displayed simply by clicking on the map
- Navigation is made easier using pre-recorded information or geocoding files - a sort of equivalent of "Favourites" on internet browsers that allows the user to return to a frequently accessed location
- JPEG, GIF or PNG shots of the map
- Dynamic display of the caption and scale

3. Extended interaction with the maps
- Ability to make direct selections by rectangular, spherical or free-form areas. The "Swiss penknife" tool allows the user to configure multiple selections, colours and shading.
- User-friendly assistant aids creation of personalized analyses
- Ability to display data in different colours, pie-charts, bar-charts etc
- Ability to choose the geographic entity and fields to apply with a choice of colours for each variable
- Display of related captions
- Ability to import data through links defined in XML
