MoreLeica Geosystems opened a new software development center in Montreal, Canada, to provide custom software solutions for customers in North and South America. Additional software development centers have also been established in Madrid and Shanghai to serve the European and Asian markets.
Hugh Baertlein, senior vice president, marketing - Americas region, explained the reasons for opening the new software centers: “There is an increasing need for software with very specialized functions to support new applications and disciplines for our surveying instruments. By establishing regional software development centers, we can be more responsive in meeting our customers’ requirements.”
Baertlein noted that the regional centers will be integrated with each other and with the corporate development facilities at corporate headquarters in Heerbrugg, Switzerland. “In setting up the regional software development centers, we carefully defined new processes and shared infrastructures to coordinate resources, ensuring that our customers get prompt software solutions while avoiding duplication of effort,” Baertlein said. “We have established common decision-making processes as well as guidelines to ensure a uniform look and feel for the software and documentation.”
