CARIS acknowledged for its leadership in geomatics education.

CARIS announces it has been acknowledged by the University of New Brunswick (UNB) in Fredericton for its leadership in geomatics education in the academic sector by improving the ability of students to work with and explore the potential of spatial data.

The presentation was made during the Geomatics Day celebrations by Dr. John McLaughlin, President of UNB, and accepted by Dr. Sam Masry, CARIS Founder and President. CARIS was recognized for educational initiatives undertaken to provide the software needed to read and interpret spatial data and for ongoing support of students in the field of geomatics.

Through its Academic Partnering Program, CARIS provides educational institutions with software at a greatly reduced cost. Moreover, CARIS goes beyond supplying its Academic Partners with technology, but offers its expertise through free training, consulting and teaching resources to ensure the successful introduction and integration of geomatics technology into the school.

Also announced during the ceremony was an agreement betweem New Brunswick’s post-secondary academic community and Service New Brunswick, responsible for the Province’s Geographic Information Infrastructure and esteemed CARIS client, to provide geographic information to the academic sector, the first agreement of its kind in Canada.
