Autodesk Adds Visualization Capabilities to Autodesk Civil Series 10.02.2002
Autodesk Inc. announced it has added Autodesk OnSite Desktop 7 to the Autodesk Civil Series. With OnSite Desktop, civil engineering teams will be able to import LandXML, GIS, and mapping data and aerial photographs in the conceptual stage of a project. Using this data, teams can render 3D and animated views to construct ‘what if’ scenarios including flood levels, slope, and cut and fill to help plan and account for a variety of situations.
In addition, projects teams can present their ideas to clients and design boards much earlier in the design process. This early collaboration helps to solicit feedback and build consensus sooner, helping avoid costly re-designs later in the project. In addition, using the OnSite Desktop API (application programming interface), users can extend the functionality of OnSite Desktop to meet their specific needs.
Autodesk OnSite Desktop 7 is an easy-to-use tool giving professionals the power to visualize, analyze, and communicate live raster and vector data in complex scenarios for the planning, approval, execution, and management of projects. OnSite Desktop, built on Microsoft’s .NET technology, works on the desktop or over the Internet. The application makes it possible for a wider range of users to be involved in the design process to explore conceptual design scenarios, share design data and design intent, integrate diverse data types from multiple sources, interactively visualize varied information related to a project and analyze map, design, or database features.
Autodesk Civil Series
The Autodesk Civil Series gives civil engineering professionals the tools they need most: a single suite of integrated civil design applications to meet their biggest business challenges including integrating applications, maintaining data integrity, visualizing conceptual designs, and collaborating with colleagues. The suite allows users to easily pass survey data to and from the field, or integrate paper-based drawings and raster imagery, such as aerial images or scanned drawings, into the broader design process. Digital design data can then be maximized for a wide variety of tasks civil engineers encounter in subdivision, site, road, and sewer and drainage design projects.
