Carlson Software Inc. , Maysville, Ky., acquired all assets of Simplicity Systems Inc. , East Grand Forks, Minn. Simplicity now operates as a division of Carlson and is based in Carlson’s headquarters in Maysville. The Simplicity division of Carlson will provide technical support, training and all services previously provided by Simplicity. All current products will continue to be available to customers.
Sokkia Corporation, Olathe, Kan., sold its Sokkia Measuring Systems chain of retail stores in the United States to a group of entrepreneurs. Sokkia Corporation’s Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Michael S. Adkins, General Manager of Product Support Service, Robert J. Peterson and Corporate Controller, Kenneth R. Kost are the owners in the new venture called FieldWorks.
Trimble, Sunnyvale, Calif., and ESRI, Redlands, Calif., formed a strategic alliance to work on mobile GIS solutions. The alliance brings together Trimble’s expertise in field-rugged handheld GPS technology and ESRI’s market-leading GIS software to expand the power of an enterprise GIS to an organization’s mobile workers.
Leica Geosystems’ GIS & Mapping Division, Atlanta, Ga., announced its newest GPS/GIS product dealer in the United States, Midwest Architects & Engineers (A&E) Supply Inc. , Richardson, Texas. A factory-authorized distributor for Leica Geosystems, Midwest A&E will sell products from Leica Geosystems’ data collection systems and laser rangefinders product lines.
Spalding DeDecker Associates Inc. , Rochester Hills, Mich., added a Construction Engineering Department to its family of services.
