Joseph V.R. Paiva, Ph.D., director of business development for Trimble Navigation Ltd.'s Engineering and Construction Division, Sunnyvale, Calif., was appointed as Geomatics Industry Association of America (GIAA) chairman for 2001. GIAA is an industry association of key instrumentation and other surveying and engineering product vendors.

3Di LLC, Easton, Md., appointed Kevin J. Reardon, as president and chief operating officer.

TerraPoint LLC, The Woodlands, Texas, expanded its North American operations to Canada and opened a new office in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Océ-USA Holding Inc., Chicago, Ill., appointed Randy Kreisel to the newly created position of Vice President, Logistics. He manages the logistics operation of Océ's largest U.S. operating units.

Safe Software Inc., Surrey, B.C, Canada, and Shell International Exploration and Production B.V. (SIEP), Vancouver, B.C., Canada, entered into a worldwide agreement for the supply of FME spatial data translation software. FME software manipulates data by improving data interoperability and performing data processing functions including topology creation and coordinate transformation.

Beam, Longest and Neff LLC introduced Plexis Group, Indianapolis, Ind., a technology-based company specializing in GIS. The new company will pioneer advancements in governmental GIS systems.

Convergent Group, Englewood, Colo., joined NovaLIS Technologies, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Convergent Group added the NovaLIS product suite to its Digital Government. NovaLIS Technologies' integrated land record suite automates land records management and improves Internet access to information relating to land tenure, mapping, property valuation and land use planning.

Consul-Tech Engineering Inc. (CTE), Miramar, Fla., appointed Michele P. Guest as Director of Business Development. Guest's responsibilities include identifying and pursuing new business opportunities and serving as a liaison for CTE in the Central Florida and Jacksonville markets.
