Yamanaka
Tak Oda resigned as president of Sokkia Corporation, Olathe, Kan. Ed Yamanaka has replaced him as president, having been with Sokkia for 21 years, 14 of which have been in the United States. Yamanaka was formerly president of SOKKIA Singapore and SOKKIA Central and South America.

Pollock
PCI Geomatics, Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada, appointed Dr. Richard Pollock as director of research and development and Arnold Hougham as vice-president of sales and product marketing.

Hougham
Pollock joined PCI Geomatics in September 2001 with more than 20 years of industry experience. Hougham has been with PCI Geomatics since 1989 and has been involved in product sales for more than 13 years.

Riegl USA, Orlando, Fla., has expanded its corporate offices in Orlando. With the new expanded facility, Riegl USA will increase its administrative, sales, service, R&D and distribution capabilities. The new office is located at 7081 Grand National Drive, Suite 112, Orlando, FL 32819.

Tripod Data Systems, Corvallis, Ore., appointed Tom D. Stevens as national sales manager. Stevens joined TDS as the central and west coast regional sales manager in July 2002. Before that he worked for Topcon for 12 years as the west coast regional sales manager.

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) named William Wright, who oversees the structures laboratory at the FHWA Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center, as the agency’s Engineer of the Year for 2002 and recognized him with the Engineering Excellence Award for outstanding professional achievement. Wright is the FHWA’s key technical expert on issues related to the design, fabrication, construction and inspection of structural steel for highways.

Sorenson
Leica Geosystems, Atlanta, Ga., appointed Tony Wilson director of sales in the southwest region. Wilson’s efforts focus on providing spatial data acquisition products and services that help customers increase their productivity. Wilson spent eight and one half years with Surveyors Service Company (SERVCO) in Costa Mesa, Calif., directly overseeing sales and customer service/support of Leica Geosystems’ surveying and engineering product lines.

ESRI, Redlands, Calif., opened a new larger office dedicated to serving its GIS users in Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. It is located at 880 Blue Gentian Road, Suite 200, St. Paul, MN 55121.

Shunk
Thales Navigation, Santa Clara, Calif., hired Darcy Shunk and LeRoy Sorenson as the company’s newest regional sales managers. Shunk is responsible for survey and mapping for the U.S.A. West region and Sorenson will drive sales and customer service in the U.S.A. Central region.
