Patent Issued for New Imagery Method

A more rigorous sensor model and a simpler mathematical model of aerial vertical frame photography.

The U.S. Patents Office issued a patent to Roger O. Brown of the Army Corps of Engineers’ Engineer Research and Development Center’s Topographic Engineering Center (TEC) for his invention titled “Method for Rigorous Reshaping of Stereo Imagery with Digital Photogrammetric Workstation.” The method allows a more rigorous sensor model from stereo imagery to be handled with a simpler mathematical model of aerial vertical frame photography. This method can be used by a larger user group and provides better exploitation of the stereoscopic data. Brown, a physical scientist at TEC, possesses a wide range of experience in the research, test, development and evaluation of soft-copy mapping methods with digital imagery and terrain data. he holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Oregon and a Master of Science degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech). He is also a graduate of the Army Management Staff College.
