MoreOptech Incorporated, a provider of manufacturing and support of advanced laser-based survey instruments, announced Mike Smallwood has joined the company in the position of regional sales manager, USA, for the Terrestrial Survey Division.
Smallwood will operate out of Optech International Inc. in Kiln, Mississippi. His addition is the latest step in Optech's continued expansion and reorganization of its ALTM sales team.
Prior to joining Optech, Smallwood spent 10 years with Leica Geosystems' GIS and Mapping Division where he was most recently responsible for U.S. sales of ALS50 LiDAR and ADS40 Digital Sensors. His other sales responsibilities at Leica included Socet Set software, DSW film scanners, and analytical stereo plotters.
Smallwood also has extensive sales and research experience in remote sensing and image processing, including an Air Force background in air photo intelligence and image analysis.
Optech's ALTM standard for airborne laser terrain mapping includes data acquisition rates of up to 100,000 pulses per second and innovative options such as intensity, full wave form digitization, simultaneous first-last pulse, roll compensation, and digital camera integration.
