Wilbrink to Address GIS in the Rockies Conference 8.2.04

Will Wilbrink, MapInfo's chief solutions architect will speak on location-based services and mobile workforce applications.

Will Wilbrink, chief solutions architect for MapInfo Corporation, will deliver a keynote address at the 17th Annual GIS in the Rockies Conference. Wilbrink will present "Enabling the Mobile Workforce with Location Aware Services." His remarks will outline the current and near future technologies that are helping to broaden the use of GIS in mobile workforce applications.

The luncheon address is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday October 7th at the Plaza at the Mart.

Wilbrink has 22 years of experience in complex systems research development. He has been with MapInfo Corporation for eight years and is a lead architect for MapInfo's location-based services and solutions. Wilbrink is the chairman of the Open Location Services Working Group of the Open GIS Consortium.

Before joining MapInfo, Wilbrink was a principal consultant with several major wireless carriers, including Sprint and AT&T. He consulted on topics in geographic information systems and computer-aided design.

Wilbrink has a Bachelor of Science in electronics engineering from the Ohio Institute of Technology.

The conference will be October 6-8, 2004 at the Plaza at the Mart, a facility at the Denver Merchandise Mart. Wednesday and Thursday will include technical sessions, the exhibition, and shorter workshops. Full-day and two-day workshops will be Monday and Tuesday. Friday's program includes technical tours and a golf outing.

The sponsoring societies are the Colorado Section of the American Congress on Surveying and Mapping (ACSM), the Rocky Mountain Region of the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS), the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Geospatial Information Technology Association (GITA), the Professional Land Surveyors of Colorado (PLSC), the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA) and GIS Colorado.
