URISA's 42nd Annual Conference will get underway next month with an important keynote address from Jim Geringer, the former Governor of Wyoming. Geringer's advocacy for technology has centered on the end result of how technology enhances services, emphasizing the benefits of integrated service delivery and enterprise-wide solutions. He will be addressing the conference on the topic of "How To Get Elected Officials more Engaged with Technology" during the opening session on Monday, November 8.

On Wednesday morning, November 10, Dr. Jeffrey Hunker, Professor of Technology and Public Policy at the Harvard Business School, will address the conference on "GIS and the Future of Counterterrorism", another important and timely keynote presentation. GIS is being combined with other technologies to create powerful new tools to fight terrorism. Data mining, predictive analysis and wireless communications are among these new technologies.

URISA's 42nd Annual Conference will be held in Reno, Nevada, November 7-10. Educational sessions and pre-conference workshops, networking events, and an exhibit hall will solidify URISA's reputation as "The Place for Spatial Information Professionals."
