Students explore the modern concepts of interoperability through the product's ability to establish live links with proprietary datasets from other GIS vendors.

Intergraph Mapping and Geospatial Solutions recently donated 400 copies of GeoMedia Professional software to UNIGIS in support of the program's geographic information system (GIS) distance learning curriculum. In a related move, Intergraph and UNIGIS have begun efforts to develop teaching materials based on Intergraph technology. UNIGIS is an international consortium of distance learning that is comprised of universities with a standard GIS curriculum.

GeoMedia Professional is being integrated into postgraduate certificate, diploma and master coursework for applying GIS principles and methodology. The software allows students to explore the modern concepts of interoperability through the product's ability to establish live links with proprietary datasets from other GIS vendors.

The software donation is an example of Intergraph's collaboration with academia. Other higher education opportunities include the Team GeoMedia Registered Research Laboratory Program, GeoMedia Research Grant Program and GeoMedia International Internship Program.
