Topcon Handheld Field Controller Introduced 3.31.04

Topcon's FC-100 has full-color display and dual removable storage media.

Touting its rugged construction, full-color display, dual removable storage media and Windows CE.NET operating system, Topcon has introduced a compact field controller that is equipped to handle large-scale work.

At its heart is a 400Mhz Intel X-Scale processor and 128Mb of built-in RAM. Easily accessible dual storage slots provide the option of using compact flash and SD removable media, allowing the user to run a Bluetooth wireless technology card in the CF slot without losing the ability to off-load or import new data in the field. The ultra-bright, TFT sunlight active color touch screen QVGA display can be seen in virtually all lighting conditions. The rugged housing is compact and designed for a comfortable fit in the palm of a hand. A range pole mount is also available.

Power is supplied by a conventional, widely available lithium-ion "camcorder" battery, providing 20 hours of normal use in between charging. The battery is housed in a quickly accessible compartment so rotating two batteries is very easy and convenient.

In addition to Topcon's TopSURV software, the FC-100 will currently run Carlson SurvCE and conventional Windows CE software.
