RMSI Achieves SEI CMM Level 3 02.12.2003
RMSI, a global IT services company, announced that the Software Division of the company's operations has been successfully assessed at SEI CMM® Level 3 on January 30, 2003. RMSI provides Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and spatial solutions, and application software services to clients worldwide.
The assessment was carried out by SEI authorized lead assessor Mr. Rajesh Naik of QAI India. The scope of assessment (using the CBA IPI v 1.2 methodology) included all software development, testing and maintenance activities carried out in the Software Division of RMSI’s NOIDA operations. The focus of the assessment included maturity level 2 through 3 Key Process Areas (KPAs) of the Software CMM (v1.1), excluding Software Subcontract Management. This demonstrates RMSI’s capability to manage and control software development risks related to the project, organization, process and technology in application software development projects that it undertakes.
Says, Rajesh Naik of QAI India, “The software division of RMSI has been able to leverage mature processes for improved project performance. The increase in process maturity has reflected directly in the customer satisfaction index. With the process culture firmly embedded, RMSI is poised to execute larger projects.”
The Software Engineering Institute's Capability Maturity Model for Software (CMM or SW-CMM) is a model for increasing the maturity of the software processes of an organization through the implementation of defined key practices. The Software CMM has become a de facto standard for assessing and improving software processes.
Commenting on this achievement, Ajay Lavakare, Chief Executive Officer, RMSI said, "The successful assessment reinforces the robust delivery & development mechanism of RMSI, demonstrating our commitment to deliver top quality, high productivity and quick time-to-market software applications to clients at reduced risks & costs."
RMSI's Hyderabad office was earlier awarded the ISO 9001:2000 certification in June last year for establishing and applying a Quality Management System for "Supply of Data, Engineering, and Software Solutions for the GIS industry".
