Bruce McFadden, President of Jacksonville, Arkansas-based Improved Construction Methods (ICM) announces the acquisition of retail stores in Dallas, San Antonio, and Corpus Christi, Texas from Olathe, Kansas-based FieldWorks™. Under the terms of an agreement dated January 28, 2003, ICM will officially assume operations on March 1, 2003, under the new name ICM Survey Systems.

“For 33 years ICM has been serving contractors and municipalities across the mid-South with construction lasers, trench safety, pipe testing equipment, manhole forms, surveying instruments and other specialty systems to improve productivity” says McFadden. “Five years ago through our Capitol Blueprint Company we began to serve Surveyors, Engineers and Government Agencies with the latest in surveying instruments and technology. We are very pleased to make this acquisition of the Fieldworks stores in Dallas, San Antonio and Corpus Christi and plan to continue to offer the great Fieldworks – Sokkia service in addition to our other products and services.

Michael Adkins, Chief Executive Officer of Fieldworks, says “The divestiture of our Texas-based holdings now concludes a carefully planned and successfully executed Market Repositioning Plan employed immediately following the April, 2002 acquisition of FieldWorks from Sokkia. This decision was driven by our desire to present a uniform business model to the market both from the standpoint of the manufacturers we proudly represent and the philosophies we universally employ through the whole of the FieldWorks organization. The FieldWorks you see today will be the FieldWorks of tomorrow and beyond. ICM’s own legacy of providing outstanding customer service leaves us confident that the service and support Texas customers have come to know and appreciate will continue under the ICM Survey Systems banner for many years to come.”

FieldWorks™ is America’s largest, full-service, independent retailer of products, services and technology for the Engineering, Surveying, Mapping and Construction industries. FieldWorks is committed to maintaining the most comprehensive inventory of products and services in the world.

ICM is the largest independent distributor of construction lasers, trench safety, and pipe testing equipment in the United States and plans to build that same reputation with surveying systems.
