Williams replaces Matthew Smith, who is moving to corporate headquarters in Heerbrugg, Switzerland, to work on corporate and international projects.

Prior to joining Leica Geosystems, Williams was vice-president of commercial and industrial facilities for Invensys, one of the world's largest makers of industrial controls and automation equipment. At Invensys, Williams was responsible for creating and implementing vertical market strategies, developing business and marketing plans, and managing the sales and marketing of integrated energy services and control products for the company's largest accounts. Williams has also held key management roles with Siemens Energy and Automation and British Oxygen Company.
