NCEES Specifies Additional Prohibited Calculators 1.13.04

The National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying released another list of calculators banned from exams.

Based on additional research, the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) has determined that the following calculators are prohibited inside NCEES exam rooms. These calculators have communicating or text-editing capabilities or other features with the potential to compromise the security of NCEES exams They join a list of calculators specified by NCEES in its August 2003 news release as prohibited in NCEES exam rooms. Calculators specified in this news release:
  • Casio, CFX9850+
  • TI-83
  • TI-85
  • TI-86
  • HP 41 series
  • HP 42S

Calculators specified in August 2003 news release:

  • HP 48GX
  • HP 49G
  • TI-83 Plus and TI-83 Plus Silver Edition
  • TI-89
  • TI-92 and Voyage 200

The above calculators do not compose an all-inclusive list of calculators banned from the NCEES examinations. Based on NCEES exam policy 15, any calculator that has communicating or text-editing capabilities or other features that may compromise the security of NCEES exams is prohibited in the exam room. The above list specifies varioius models that NCEES has been requested to evaluate for appropriateness in the exam room.
