Avenza Systems Inc., Toronto, Ontario, producers of MAPublisher cartographic software, announced that the Department of Geography at Memorial University of Newfoundland in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada, has chosen MAPublisher software for use in its cartography lab.

"MAPublisher will play an important role in the new cartography program at our university" said Glen Crewe, Remote Sensing and GIS Specialist and overseer of the Geographic Information and Digital Analysis Laboratory (GEOIDAL) at Memorial University of Newfoundland. "Cartography involves the compilation, organization and visual representation of spatial information and a variety of geographical information can effectively be communicated through good cartography by combining existing software and processes with the design and production capabilities that MAPublisher affords", he added.

MAPublisher will be primarily used in the Geographic Information and Digital Analysis Laboratory (GEOIDAL) by staff and students towards a diploma in geographic information sciences. Students will be able to take advantage of the graphics capabilities of MAPublisher to produce high-quality maps.
